Astarra will acknowledge all complaints received within 5 working days documenting Astarra's complaints handling process. Your complaint will then be referred to the Privacy Officer who will undertake to resolve your complaint within 45 days of receipt. Should your complaint not be resolved within 45 days of receipt, you will be notified by the Privacy Officer and every attempt will be made to finalise your complaint as quickly as possible.
Should your complaint not be handled to your satisfaction by Astarra's internal complaints resolution process, you may refer your complaint to the Privacy Commissioner:

How Astarra Collects Personal Information
The majority of information we hold is collected from you either direct or through your adviser. However, for superannuation, your name and home address is generally obtained from your employer in the first instance to enable the initial contact. Ongoing information regarding the nature of any superannuation contributions is generally obtained from your employer.
Astarra collects personal information from you by post, fax, email or telephone, subject to the establishment of the sender's or caller's identity.

Personal Information held by Astarra
The personal information Astarra may hold about you includes where applicable:
a) name, date of birth, contact details, occupation and adviser details;
b) general health information;
c) nominated beneficiaries;
d) bank details;
e) employment details, the nature of employment, commencement date, paid work hours and annual salary;
f) tax file number, investment choice and the nature of any contributions;
g) rollover details.
Additional personal and/or medical reports may be obtained for insurance applications. However, this material is not retained by Astarra but forwarded to the underwriter.
Where you provide your tax file number Astarra is permitted to use it for legal purposes only.
If you do not wish to provide us with all or part of the personal information we request from you, we may not be able to provide you with the services you require.

Purpose of Collection
Astarra uses the information it holds about you to:
a) enable communication with you;
b) assess insurance cover (where required);
c) calculate benefits and benefit payments;
d) enable processing of direct debits;
e) enable transfer of rollover funds;
f) enable compliance with taxation payments and reporting obligations;
g) enable consideration of enquiries and complaints;
h) enable compliance with any legal obligations.

Access to Personal Information
You are entitled at any time to request access to your personal information held by Astarra. All such requests should be made to the following:

You can also ask to update your personal information at any time if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
In some circumstances, Astarra may not permit you to access or may refuse to amend your personal information, for instance where access would be unlawful or where denying access is authorised by law.
In these cases, Astarra will provide you with written reasons for denial of access or for a refusal to correct personal information.
Astarra aims to provide a response as quickly as possible. However, more complex cases may take up to 30 days.

Release of Personal Information
Personal information held by Astarra is accessed by or released to the following for the purpose of performing their roles in relation to the funds:
a) employees of Astarra Funds Management Pty Ltd;
b) your adviser;
c) employees of third party service providers, eg fund administrator, auditors,the underwriter;
d) mail houses (for the purposes of sending Astarra mail);
e) financial institutions involved in direct credits and debits.
